Mountain Tubing Tour Features

Mountain Tubing

The Mountain Tubing Adventure is perfect for all those aged 5 and over and in generally good physical condition. The gently flowing waters, beautiful scenery, flumes, and tunnels combine for a relaxing experience. And when we say we are unique, we mean it! This is the only tubing activity of this type anywhere on Kaua'i.

Views of Waiʻaleʻale Crater

Your mountain tubing adventure has exclusive access to the historic irrigation system of the former Līhuʻe Plantation. This ditch and tunnel system that once irrigated vast sugar crops had been unused since sugar was taken out of production in 2000. The water system runs through some of the most beautiful and remote areas of the island. It includes spectacular views of the mountains and Waiʻaleʻale Crater. The waters originate near the top of Mount Waiʻaleʻale, one of the wettest spots in the world, and are channeled through ditches and tunnels hand-dug by plantation workers over a century ago!

Līhuʻe Plantation

Līhuʻe Plantation was once one of the largest sugar plantations in Hawai’i. Situated on the east coast of the island of Kaua'i, the plantation covered more than 20,000 acres of land. Today, the plantation is no longer in operation, but its history is still very much alive. The former plantation grounds are now home to a museum as well as a working farm and botanical garden. Visitors can tour the plantation grounds and learn about sugar's role in Hawaiian history. They can also see firsthand how sugar was produced, from crushing the cane to boiling the syrup. The Līhuʻe Plantation is a fascinating glimpse into Hawai'i's past and a must-see for anyone interested in Hawaiian history.
